Bioresorbable knitted yarns and meshes to cure the genital prolapse

The genital prolapse is a medical problem that affects more than 2 million women in Belgium and the region Hauts-de-France. The most affected patients (60%) are women over 60 years old.

The physical consequences are painful for the patients (incontinence, constipation, pain during sexual relations), but also their social life is strongly affected. These women lose mobility and the taboo around this subject accentuates the loss of self-esteem they have.

Surgical management is growing, but current solutions are poorly adapted to this specific problem.

The Probiomesh project will create a new textile solution perfectly adapted to this problem, the genital prolapse.
